Ready for the MRCP Part 2?

MRCP Part 2 Prep: Everything You Need, and Nothing Else.

Part 1 tested what you know. MRCP Part 2 Written tests what you’d do with it. This course works through the full blueprint in structured teaching sessions, then drills you on the question style until it stops being the thing that catches you out. If you’re still deciding which part to sit, start with the MRCP overview.

Part 2 asks you to apply clinical knowledge across the breadth of internal medicine — investigation, diagnosis, management, and the judgement calls between them. The course is built around that shift. Live sessions work through how questions are constructed and where candidates lose marks. Study notes cover each blueprint area at the depth Part 2 demands, which is not the depth Part 1 did.

Most of the gain comes from practice. Topic assessments after each block, full-length timed mocks under exam conditions, and feedback on the questions you got wrong — and the ones you guessed right. Single best answer and data interpretation each get their own drilling. Sessions are recorded and available for Two Diets, so a run of night shifts doesn’t cost you a week of the course.

Common questions about MRCP

Got Questions? We've Got Answers.

Most doctors sit it one to two diets after passing Part 1, while the underlying knowledge is still fresh. There’s no minimum waiting period — you can apply for the next available diet once your Part 1 result is confirmed. The practical constraint is preparation time rather than eligibility: Part 2 covers the same specialties but asks harder questions of them, so budget a full course cycle rather than assuming Part 1 revision will carry you. Do check the Federation’s current regulations, as there is a defined window within which you must complete all three components after passing Part 1.

You may take them in either order once Part 1 is passed, and both are valid strategies. Most candidates take Part 2 Written first, because it builds directly on the knowledge base Part 1 tested and PACES demands a different kind of preparation — supervised clinical practice, which is harder to arrange and harder to rush. Taking PACES first can make sense if you’re in a post with strong clinical exposure now that you may not have later, or if a PACES centre near you has limited diets. Confirm the current attempt limits and time windows with the Federation before committing to an order.

Part 1 largely rewards recall — you either know the mechanism, the drug, the association, or you don’t. Part 2 gives you a clinical scenario and asks what you would do next: which investigation, which diagnosis, which management step. Stems are longer, often carrying investigation results, imaging findings or a drug chart you have to interpret before you can answer. More than one option will usually be defensible, and the exam is asking for the best one rather than the only correct one. That changes how you revise. Reading more facts helps less than working through cases until your reasoning is quick and consistent under time pressure.

Most doctors working full-time need four to six months. If you’re sitting January 2027, the Long Course is timed to finish two weeks before the exam.

Every session is recorded and available for 8 Months. You can post questions in the group and a mentor will answer.
